GOPAC in the UNGASS IRG Intersessional Meeting of the COSP to the UNCAC on the Achievement of Political Declaration adopted by the UNGASS

GOPAC Executive Director Mr. Firas Alhadithi called for a larger parliamentary involvement in every international dialogue against corruption during the Intersessional Meeting of the COSP to the UNCAC on the Achievement of Political Declaration adopted by the UNGASS on 6 September 2022.

Parliament and parliamentarians hold a crucial role in attaining commitments laid out in the Political declaration. GOPAC Executive Director stressed out that many clauses within the declaration specifically require legislative interventions to address it—one that commonly falls under the parliament’s domain.

Let us not forget that parliament and parliamentarians can shape the national policy against corruption and provide measures to strengthen accountability and transparency!
