ABOUT GOPAC

The Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) is an international network of parliamentarians dedicated to combat corruption, strengthen good governance, and uphold the rule of law throughout the world. It has a membership of more than 1000 parliamentarians worldwide, stretched over five different regional chapters with more than 80 national chapters. GOPAC serves as a platform of networking, lesson learned, best practices, and knowledge exchanges, as well as international peer support. GOPAC strengthens the capacity of parliamentarians to have a better and stronger legislative role against corruption. It also provides means of knowledge through research and parliamentary toolkit to equip parliamentarians with relevant anti-corruption and good governance knowledge required.

PARLIAMENTARY DIALOGUE AND ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

As per its Constitution, GOPAC holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the time and location specified and agreed by its Board of Directors. AGM is the whole of members’ meeting to decide the organizational matters, upon approved by GOPAC Board of Directors and recommended by the Executive Committee. Under Qatar leadership, GOPAC decided to add one more feature of the AGM, as an added value to the membership, that is the Parliamentary Dialogue.

GOPAC Parliamentary Dialogue is held as part of its pre-AGM agenda, and it serves as the platform of networking, lesson learned, best practices, and knowledge exchanges for parliamentarians across different regions. The theme and agenda will be decided upon discussion between GOPAC Secretariat, the host country and other relevant international partners, if any.

This year the dialogue will be conducted between Parliamentarians and Anti-Corruption Champions. The winners of the ninth Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence award ( https://www.aceaward.com/ ) will be invited to meet with Parliamentarians on a Roundtable to explore ideas, best practices and to listen to stories and how this might give new indications for the Parliamentarians committed to the fight against Corruption.

The Session will be taking place at the Majlis meeting Room in Raffles Doha Hotel in Lusail:
