SUMMARY:Sixth Forum of Parliamentarians
DESCRIPTION:GOPAC hosted the sixth Forum of Parliamentarians on 5 November 2015, in Saint Petersburg, Russia. We were pleased to receive collaboration from the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in our first session entitled Partnerships to Curtail Corruption in the Pacific, which demonstrated the UN Pacific Regional Anti-Corruption (UN-PRAC) Project’s successes in working with parliamentarians to enhance Pacific Island States’ active participation in the UNCAC. We were also pleased to receive collaboration from Transparency International in our second session entitled Prosecuting Grand Corruption: Let us bring them to justice, where panelists discussed potential strategies, including UN mechanisms, to prosecute grand corruption. The establishment of the UN investigative commission in Guatemala was presented as an example of a successful mechanism.\n\n\n\n											\n										Declaration\n											\n									\n\n
